What is TRIBE?
TRIBE is Lakeland's version of a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. Its ultimate goal is to improve overall school climate and to lay the foundations for building relationships that will pay dividends in the future.
Together through consistency and positive relationships, TRIBE looks to improve the behavior of all students. PBIS overall aims to decrease behavioral infractions, showing annual improvement. It hopes to develop a positive school community, to teach everyone the expectations for our school, and to acknowledge students for being members of the TRIBE. By concentrating on positive behaviors, TRIBE will create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment. Being consistent with addressing students when they do and do not meet behavioral expectations will increase compliance, provide students with greater structure, and clarify expected behavior. TRIBE encompasses five behavioral expectations: TRUSTWORTHY, RESPECTFUL, INVOLVED, BRAVE, & EXCELLENT. Students, faculty, and staff at Lakeland Jr/Sr High School will demonstrate the five behavioral expectations within both classroom and non-classroom settings at all times.
Students can earn rewards through TRIBE simply for following along with what they are expected to do. These rewards occur daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly in a variety of different forms. What Are The TRIBE Expectations?
All PBIS programs utilize a regularly updated behavior matrix that is the guiding light to all PBIS programming. TRIBE is no different. The TRIBE behavior matrix identifies 6 key areas that the 5 behavioral expectations are to be adhered to, and identifies what it looks like to follow them.
