School Counseling Support While We Are Home
Our offices are closed, and we are supporting students via digital means. Below is information regarding how to connect with your school counselor while the LHS offices are closed. While school counseling is best done in person - we have systems in place to support students, answer questions and hold our meetings while we are on digital days. In the sections below - you will find our contact information, how to set up an appointment with us online (which we still use even while in the office), instructions for students and parents on how to use online meeting tools and some good resources to have available while we all navigate some new territories and experiences.
During standard office hours - you may also chat via Google Meet.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility.

Make An Appointment
This process hasn't changed! The only difference is that we won't be able to meet in person but we can meet face to face! When you schedule you will receive a confirmation of your appointment day and time. Before your meeting you will receive and updated calendar email that includes a Google Hangouts Meet link. You can also choose to join the meeting by phone and a join number is provided. Right before your appointment time, you just click the link and it will take you to the meeting (location) where your counselor will join you. Just click the Book A Meet button below!
Lessons, resources, videos and more
We will be using Google Classroom to provide lessons and resources to students. The Google Classroom join codes can be found under the appropriate counselors name listed above. Invitations were also sent to all students to join their class. We are navigating a new educational landscape and we can't downplay the challenges for our students and teachers accessing unfamiliar technologies to provide and access lessons. You can find a page of Tools for School on our webpage
Be Calm
Unquestionably these are unprecedented times. Without precedent! What does that mean? It means that we have never had anything like this pandemic happen before in our lifetime. Many people have feelings of stress, anxiety, loneliness and even sadness. Meditation and mindfulness are practices that help manage those feelings. While you can't access our Calm Room, you can access the many tools available on our Be Calm webpage.
Working Papers
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has provided guidance for the issuance of working permits for minors during the pandemic. https://www.education.pa.gov/Schools/safeschools/emergencyplanning/COVID-19/Pages/Work-Permits-for-Minors.aspx
Students who wish to obtain a work permit should contact the main office to begin the process.

- Students will need to send Mrs. deQuevedo a completed PDE 4565 form. This should be completed by either printing, completing and scanning (use camscanner or similar free scanning app) or completed electronically using Adobe Fill & Sign (free) which is available for both Android and IOS. In addition, proof of age required document(s) should be scanned and sent to Mrs. deQuevedo. --Acceptable documents include birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, or driver's license.
- Due to social distance guidelines, the school is closed. Mrs. deQuevedo will meet the student and a parent at a mutually agreeable location to provide students a wallet-sized, paper work permit bearing a number, the date of issuance, and signature of the issuing officer.
Pledge of Allegiance and Connections
We are all separated from one another but there are ways that we can feel connected to one another. Facebook and Twitter are social media platforms where we connect with our community. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic the counseling office has presented the daily Pledge of Allegiance that we share via social media, on Google Classroom and via email with our students and community. We welcome all students, teachers, staff and administrators to participate. If you are a member of the Lakeland Community and would like to participate, please sent your videos to Mrs. deQuevedo at [email protected].
